JAKE FIFER
Jacob Fifer was born in Birmingham and began singing with his family as a child. He attended college to train as a music teacher. He began taking voice lessons in the baritone range and during this time sang with the Midlands Chorale. After taking up full time teaching, he stopped singing, but began again in the early 90's, taking private lessons. Entering music festivals, he won a number of prizes, including the prestigious Blackpool Rosebowl.
In 2007 he gave up teaching as a full time primary teacher for post-graduate studies at The Birmingham Conservatoire, training with Julian Pike. He was awarded the Post-Graduate Certificate Prize for 'overall excellence'. He was also a finalist in the Recital, Post Graduate Opera and Mario Lanza Opera prize classes and was subsequently invited to perform for the Mario Lanza Society in 2008. He has undertaken a wide range of performances, from Monteverdi's Poppea, to Pirelli in Sweeney Todd, oratorio and solos in the St. George's Day concert at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
In 2010, he trained as a vocal animateur and now leads large scale performances of school children. In addition to performing, Jacob currently works privately as a voice teacher, as well as for Solihull Music Service and as a freelance music teacher. He conducts a number of choirs, of both adults and children. Previously, a visiting teacherr of vocal pedagogy at the Royal birmingham Conservatoire, he is currently studying to become a Master Trainer of the Estill Voice Training Approach.
